• August 1 — Chef to the Stars Mark Anthony will be in South Portland for a live, free, VEGETARIAN PERFORMING ARTS COOKING SHOW AND DINNER. Learn how to beat high cholesterol and other health woes so you can sleep better, live a healthier lifestyle and have more energy. • August 2 — AUGUSTA COMMUNITY BLOOD DRIVE. Monday, 1-7 pm at Penney Memorial United Baptist Church, 393 Water Street, Augusta.

• August 2 - 5 — Free VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL at the Maine Street Baptist Church, Upper Maine Street, Brunswick (across from Parkview Hospital). This year's program, "Saddle Ridge Ranch," will be held from 9am-12n and is for K-6th grade. For more info or to pre-register call 725-7303.

• August 6 - 15 — ANNUAL REVIVAL TENT MEETING. Brought to you by God’s Lighthouse of Rockland, Pastor Rick Catalano. • August 7 — Life Source Ministries, along with sponsors, are having a 'Back to School Family Fun Day', from 11am - 4pm. There will be free food, fun, music and raffles. 300 backpacks will be given away to community elementary children. • August 9 - 13 — South Lewiston Baptist Church will be holding it's 2010 High Seas Expedition Vacation Bible School starting Monday, August 9th through Friday, August 13th. • August 10 - 14 — The 2010 National Womens Christian Temperance Union Convention will be held the second week in August in Providence, Rhode Island. • August 14 —  "Getting Started in Homeschooling" Workshop on Saturday August 14 at 2 pm. The Homeschoolers of Maine will present information on Maine's homeschooling laws, record keeping, curriculum planning, Portfolios and evaluations, support groups, homeschooling children with special needs and much more. • August 21 — Morninglight Ministries is holding its AUGUST PRAISE AND PRAYER GATHERING at 9 am at First Baptist Church of Portland, 360 Canco Road. All women are invited to attend and enjoy Praise, Worship and Fellowship. • September 5 — The Phil Waldrep Team will have the 10:30 am Sunday morning service at Farmington Baptist Church, 194 Whittier Road, Farmington. Phil is known as an author, radio personality – “Living With Joy” (3 pm M-F on WBCI), missions, and a slate of popular year-round conferences including the Pastor’s Encouragement Retreat being held in Maine Sept 9-11 at the Sunday River Grand Summit Resort Hotel.
